All was well. We were greeted by a young man, Cornel. He was extremely helpful. Our bags had not made our flight from Paris, but they were delivered while we were at dinner and Cornel took them up 5 flights of stairs for us! Certainly above and beyond the call of duty. The major problem was that the directions were not good and the hotel is not well marked, but we understand that they are in the process of applying for a license for their signage. Although the hotel was only 6 minutes from St. Marks, it took us an hour to find it, and we're even familiar with Venice. Since the hotel is fairly new, they will probably come up with some better directions. ... We were thrilled with this hotel. The website does not do it justice, but there's only so much a website can do to reflect the attitude of the property. I think more needs to be put on the website about the staff's friendliness and willingness to serve their customers. One of their nicest rooms was available for the last two nights that we were there, and since my sister and her husband were with us in another room, they upgraded them at no charge from a much smaller room to the very nice one. We cannot say enough good things about this hotel. ... We were checking out extra early, and they came in specifically for us. ... Again, they go out of their way to make their customers feel at home. The property was ultra-clean and we felt as if we made new friends. ... The Locanda Ca'Formosa is a charming and quaint bed and breakfast-style hotel in the heart of Venice; close to St. Mark's Square and the Rialto, but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. The hotel staff immediately puts guests at ease and goes above and beyond the call of duty to help when needed. The rooms are large and spacious, and they are extraordinarily clean. The continental breakfast was hot and fresh and provided a nice selection of breads, cereals, fruit, yogurt and fruit tart. Juice, coffee, tea and rich hot chocolate are served with breakfast. A state-of-the-art computer with high speed internet access is available free of charge for guests' use. Additionally, those guests who enjoy smoking are provided a charming balcony right off of the common room where they can smoke. Sylvia and her staff are uncommonly superb in the hotel business.

Fantastic place - but very difficult to find late at night - no street markings and map rather vague ... Beautiful building and wonderfully kind staff
If there was anything to be critical about - the air conditioning was very cold at night
Definitely recommend it to others ... Please let people know about the left luggage facility - the hotel was vry happy to take our bags until we left for our flight
Also let people know about the trips the staff are happy to organise for customers ... Beautiful building with a fantastic setting - near one of the nicest squares in Venice.
Wonderfully friendly staff who've created a great atmosphere.
Can be tricky to find - but definitely worth the effort.

We were not able to make the first night of our reservation due to flight issues so we called to cancel and reconfirm for the next night and they did not charge us for the night we did not stay. The night we were able to stay we were ungraded to a superior room with a great view. ... Make sure it is listed that the rooms are three flights up and there is not a lift available. ... It was a great experience! It was quiet and nice with plenty of room. The breakfast was just right and they were really friendly and accommodating.

The street where the Locanda is located is not on the main street, but in a small sidestreet bearing the same name, so it is rather confusing as the numbering scheme doesn't look consistent. ... Our room was on the third floor which didn't disturb us, but this detail should be mentioned on the web. ... Very well located and good price/quality.

We had reserved two rooms, one for each couple. On the day (late afternoon) we arrived we were informed that one of the rooms was not available because of a plumbing problem. The other couple had to move to another hotel about 5 minute walk away. To her credit, the receptionist walked them to the hotel to make sure they got there ok.
... There was no indication that the room was on the fourth floor with no elevator. We expected the room to be air conditioned. It wasn't. There were no screens on the windows so mosquitoes were a problem. ... We should have received some consideration for not being able to stay in the same hotel with our friends. ... Better directions to the hotel. The fact that there is no elevator. The fact that the rooms are not airconditioned and that there are no screens. ... OK but over priced based on the above comments.

. ... The accomodation was excellent and just what we wanted for our stay in Venice. The staff could not be more helpful and were always willing to help in any way they could. They recommended restaurants and even escorted us to our water taxi collection point. I would highly recomended a stay here.

Very spacious comfortable room with adequate bath. Quiet. ... No problems with checkout. Bill was ready and accurate. ... The sign over the door states 'Residenzia Ca' Formosa' and one person we asked for help was very disgusted that the names didn't match. Oh well! ... Quaint, quiet and very nice.

I thought we were going to have a canal view. That didn't eventuate, however we had a lovely room, (actually 2 bedrooms) which my sister and I found wonderful. ... Great place to stay, except for the stairs! The internet access was much appreciated. ... We were able to leave our bags at the hotel till our train out that evening. Another bonus. ... As directed by a friendly shop-owner, I think the directions to the hotel would be easier as follows; Take S.Zaccheria street, then S.Provolo, then it will lead you into Ruga Giuffa and the hotel is in the street on the right before Campo S.Maria Formosa. ... Lovely, great spot, spacious (rare in europe), and clean. Would definitely recommend this to friends, but would inform them that there are quite a lot of stairs to carry a suitcase up.

We arrived several hours later than anticipated and when we called the hotel to ask for directions, the person working the desk for the night shift actually met us personnally in the Santa Maria Formosa square to help us find the hotel. Without his help, we would have been wandering around Venice in the middle of the night (we actually arrived at 2 am). The only problem with the accomodations was that the bathroom was out in the hall, and was being shared by several rooms. We were not under that impression when we booked the hotel. ... Great location! We were able to come back to our rooms and drop off packages, change, etc. and then head back out to enjoy Venice! ... Check into the bathroom situation! No elevator, remember to pack light, as you have to climb a minimum of two flights of narrow stairs to reach the rooms. ... Clean, great central location, very informative people.

it would be nice, if there would be somebody to bring the luggage to the rooms -the staircase is narrow and you have to bring the luggage to the third floor! ... may be, you should make clear, that the entrance to the hotel isn't at Campo Sta. Maria Formosa, you have to go over a little bridge and turn the first little street to the left. The entrance is the last door left. We had to answer two times and to search for about 5 minutes ... It's a nice, well-situated Accomodation, quiet and comfortable for a short stay in Venice. The Dandolo-Suite is very good for a family with three children.

Need to clarify instructions to the hotel. Also specify a path from the boat which only crosses one bridge -- we crossed three! ... Lots of stair climbing -- whole hotel in on the 3rd floor
