We had stayed there before so we knew what to expect but were very happy with the apartment, the staff, the meals and everything about the property. I have recommended it to many people.

I would tell them it is an excellent property with great food, great service, very clean and well maintenained. It has easy access to all of Tuscany including Florence and Siena but most of all the hill towns which are the true feel of Tuscany.

We arrived early, leaving from Florence. We did have to call them from the road and the girl, thankfully spoke beautiful English, guided us there.
The rooms were not completely ready, so we went to the wine bar, there was a bus load of people there having a wine tasting, but they set up a table for us and we have wine, cheese and meats.
Actually it was a nice way to begin our stay.
We were then guided to our rooms, we had reserved two apartments and they showed us through both very graciously.

Truthfully, I did not know what to expect as we had never stayed at this type of property before and having gone through the web was to me a gamble. This property far exceed our expectations and was the highlight of the trip through Italy. The other couple had never been to Italy prior, so for them this was everthing they had ever dreamed of, when thinking of Tuscany. The property and staff was perfect. In fact we are seriously thinking of going back again and trying other properties that you feature to do our own comparisons between properties. The web site on this property does not do it justice...it is so much better in person.

We were leaving early in the morning, so we checked out the night before..prior to the front staff leaving for the night...we did not have any problems, we had additions, as we eat breakfast there every morning and we took the wine tour. But the rooms were as quoted.

We just stayed for three days, if you are going there, stay longer.. there are many towns etc you can drive to...we went to Siena for the day and Greve etc. scouting around, but you really will want to just stay one day on the property and relax. My husband, who is one that likes to always be on the go...said he would want an extra day there to sit by the pool and just soak up the beauty of the place and walk more through the vineyards..which we did for a little bit. All in all it was the best place we stayed during our two weeks through Italy, and all the other places were 4 and 5 star hotels, but none compared to this.

We found it a little difficult to know if there was any dinnir og winetasting during the time of our stay. I didn`t get any respons on my e-mail requests on tha topic before our arraivel either. This is the only negavtiv comment we have -otherwise it war PERFECT :-)

We did not have directions - maybe we just didn't look in the correct place. However the road signs are very well marked and we had no trouble finding the villa.

I would also like to mention that at first Vignamaggio's email was down and WorldBy's representative emailed us that information right away and offered to help us in anyway possible. I am sorry I do not remember her name but I really appreciated getting her kind email.

We were delighted with our stay. It is a beautiful spot with kind and helpful staff. We would go again. The breakfasts were delicious and the outside tables have an incredible view. We enjoyed the walking trail. There was nothing that was a disappointment.

We arrived very late (10pm), and they were kind enough to leave us keys and directions to our rooms in English; we were SO grateful and relieved! The property was absolutely beautiful, the people were kind and patient with our non-Italian, and of the four places we stayed, Villa Vignamaggio was our favorite. V.V. was highly recommended by friends, and in turn, we will highly recommend V.V. to all our friends! We also enjoyed the Ristorante di Lamole they recommended us to; we went twice!

There was no one there to greet us as we arrived after 7:00pm however they had left us a note with our keys and a map which was great.

A charming villa located on a vineyard with breathtaking views and fabulous Tuscan architecture.
Its worth noting that the location is perfect for exploring the famous chianti towns of Greve, Gaiole, Radda etc.
I really feel that I got a perfect taste of Tuscany by staying here.
Remember not to expect hotel-like services after all it is a villa in the middle of the countryside and you will enjoy your stay here.

Very nice restaurants in Greve and Lamole, which are fairly convenient to Vignamaggio. We had hoped to take advantage of the dinner organized at Villa VIgnamaggio, and while they told us at check in that they would let us know when the dinner would take place, we received no communication and only found out by accident the day after that the dinner had already taken place.

Online directions said to follow signs to 'Pescille' from Greve in Chianti. No sign with Pescille existed. Got lost. Should say to follow road to Lamole. Also, since there is a specific check-in window, it would help to reference how long it takes once you get off the A-1. Took us 1.5 hours including getting lost.

Initially the receptionist took us to the wrong building, but then she realized her error and took us to the Leonardo suite. It was great!
We had a private driver deliver us to the Villa, and he drove right there. It was his first time. He had GPS and used it perfectly.

It would assist anyone driving from Greve in Chianti to Villa Vignamaggio (1st time) to know that you need to turn at the sign that points to LaMole. We had to stop and ask direction and were directed to the Villa via these directions.

We did pay less (20 Euro/night) for the room than expected but we also used more services overall such as cooking classes, spa and winery tours along with the extra dinners that week. overall we utilized and accessed most of the services offered while there.

The only thing I would include are opportunities for hiking and exploring the countryside. There were no trail maps or driving maps that indicated where to explore the region other than the small (yet very beautiful) towns in the area.

Villa Vignamaggio needs a large clear sign at the turn-off to Lamole from Greve on route 222. We were warned of this problem in a tour guide, but without that information it would have been a nightmare to find it.

The dinner offered was excellent and a great experience. We feel it should be offered more regularly. We were lucky to be there on a night when it was available.

At checkout the desk person didn't have a record of our eating breakfast that morning. We reminded her, but if we hadn't, the ultimate bill would have been higher than what we would have paid.

It is a great place to visit for a few days to get a feel for the Chianti area. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner if it is available. Once you leave Greve be sure to watch for the turn to Lamole and take it. Then follow the signs.

the only negative about our stay was the 'dinner' put on by the Villa. It is a set menu and price. We were disappointed in the food and the they actually served their cheapest bottle of wine during the dinner! (wine was incl. in the price) For the price they charge we expected better food and wine. Also, at no time did anyone in the restaurant ask us if we enjoyed the meal. That is the one thing we would not recommend to anyone staying there. unfortunate--

The staff was consistenly welcoming and

whole staff, and as an international
traveler can easily rate them near the top
of any I have encountered on 4 continents.
In fact, I'm now taking Italian language

It is a gorgeous hotel, although the prices are more expensive than they used to be. The added services seem fairly steep: the dinner option (provided once or twice a week), the cooking classes at 80 Euro per person, the spa services, $18 Euro per person for a wine tasting. Even though it's expensive, it's nice to have the option.

I'm not sure if it mentions that you definitely need a car. There were some very angry people who hadn't realized that the Villa in not walkable to the nearby town and meals are not available (generally) anywhere near the villa. A car is absolutely necessary.

This is my third time at Villa Vignamaggio and certainly won't be the last. It is a wonderful hotel in a beautiful location. The added services of the wine bar, spa and cooking classes are a wonderful addition, although a bit pricey.

Villa Vignamaggio is one of the finest accomodations I have ever visited. Their staff is polite, attentive and professional and the rooms are clean, well decorated and spacious. I would highly recommend it.

The only thing I can think of is that it would helpful to make it clear that the room accomodations are not physically in the villa. There are two restored buildings just down the hill that are used, and they are spectacular.

The price is too high for the accomodation and services provided. This is essentially a bed and breakfast. I would strongly recommend that you operate a cafe in the premises with some warm food, at least for lunch.
