the only thing was that the rooms were a bit dusty when we arrived and tw lights did not function. the rooms have been vacant for some time.
but on request the two lights were repaired immediately.

arriving by car was of course for the center of the city a bit a problem.
at the arrival you have to check in at a hotel nearby where you can not get with the car.

I have found may residence in Florence for all time. I no longer have to search for accomodation in Florence when I travel there. I will return again and again to Residence La Repubblica.

The location is amazing. Right in the heart of all the Florence attractions and restaurants.

Excellent value for the money. Perhaps the best value of for the money that I have ever experienced in Italy. The place was clean and quiet and private. It felt like I lived in downtown Florence. We referred to it as our apartment when we stayed there.

There was a slight problem regarding to the keys to the room that i reserved. I had to take a different apartment than the one that i had requested.

However there was a mis-interpretation of 2 separate bedrooms. I requested accommodation on your site as requiring self catering accommodation with 2 separate bedrooms and living area (meaning that the living area did not include the second bed) On arrival at La Republica whilst the rooms were very well fitted out, modern and central the second bedroom was also the living room. I would also be inclined to be more specific about were to meet the representative for the apartment due to arriving by car & the vehicle access to central Florence. We were told to meet at the hotel, however the hotel representatives were waiting for us at la Republica ( alittle confusing) Although the lady at reception was very helpful and gave us clear arrival instructions for the city it self over the telephone (I only wish now I new her name to forward our thanks to her)

A very central location in a security building with modern facilities. Very clean, tidy, comfortable, tastefully decorated and furnished. With the shutters open you may feel the noise is a high level, however in the eveining sleeping with the A/C on and the shutters closed the ambience was peaceful and quite.
Parking facilities organized before arrival (if arriving by car)made our stay more pleasant.

You must check in at another hotel which is a little inconvenient, however, close by. The staff was very helpful, polite and friendly.

The common elevator and stairs are a little scary at first but the actual floors are very nice. The rooms are large and quiet. Also, the location is great. We will definitely stay her on our next visit.

It is in the center of town. It is best not to drive a car, parking starts at 23 Euro a night and up. You can't drive in the town center, so it is impossible to find this hotel on your own. It is worth it to be in the center of everything.

It was a great value for the money. The apartments are tucked away above a main square.

We had to check in at the reception of a hotel a couple of blocks away, then walk to the apartment with our bags. It would have been better if the office at the apartment had been staffed.

The staff was wonderful. The only down part to the apt. was the heat, it was very hit or miss. I think they were working on it. Otherwise it was a very nice place to stay.

It was not easy to find the hotel-check in
place-. It would have been easier to look for the apartment's address-exactly on the plaza- and then be directed to the check in- hotel.

We arrived a bit late due to the heavy traffic on A1. Thanks so much for the assistance of the gentleman- Ricardo ?and a lady-who did not speak much English - who with hospitable attitude and kind help made our arrival and the short stay
more enjoyable.

The apartment was fine. The entrance and steps to the apartment were dirty and dusty and it was like a building site.

The voucher stated final payment could be paid by credit card, this was disputed at the hotel reception and I was asked for a cash payment. I refused and stated a would only pay by credit card as my voucher stated. They were not keen but did eventually agree.

The entrance and building site should be explained and the fact that nearly all the building is dirty and not pleasant.

Position and actual accomodation excellent. Be prepared for a disappointing entrance and staircase.

We had to speak into an intercom at the front door of the Residence and arrange for someone from the hotel (obviously owned and managed by the same company) a few blocks away to come to the Residence to let us in.As the Residence is on a busy and noisy Piazza (part of its appeal!) it was impossible to hear what the person on the other end of the intercom at the hotel was saying to us. This really needs to be rectified - perhaps it is just a matter of turning up the volume. We informed the hotel reception of the problem but later noticed other newly arrived guests having the same problem.

The kitchen was disappointing in that there was no microwave, no oven, no griller, no toaster, no kettle and very, very minimal cooking utensils. All that the kitchen had was a sink, a small refrigerator and 2 hotplates.It would be more correctly described as a kitchenette than a kitchen, although there certainly was the space for these missing items to be included. It meant self catering was very restricted and difficult.We couldn't even properly warm up our take away pizza!
We also would have appreciated a shower screen in the bathroom which was effective in keeping the water in the shower/bathtub and off the bathroom floor. The floor was awash after 3 of us had had showers, no matter how much care we took.
However, the location of the Residence was wonderful, our appartment was clean and we enjoyed the generous size of the rooms. If the above problems re bathroom and kitchen were attended to it would be an excellent place to stay.

I would not recommend it to someone who wanted to self cater (ie avoid having to eat out in restaurants every night) for the reasons expressed above. We had just spent 7 nights in an appartment in Chianti which had an oven. hotplates, microwave, sink, refrigerator and sufficient cooking utensils (ie a kitchen not a kitchenette) and this we had been able to achieve.... not so at the Residence.
I would recommend it to someone who wanted a fabulous location, quiet, spacious and very clean rooms, didn't mind a leaking shower and didn't want to self cater!

1. POSITIVE
EXCELLENT LOCATION FOR FLORENCE AND RAIL.
2. NEGATIVE
ROMM WAS SOMEWHAT GLOOMY, BUT WE WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT THIS WOULD BE NECESSARY IN HOTTER WEATHER.
3. FULL SELF-CATERING COOKING FACILITY NOT ADEQUATE (NO OVEN COOKING). THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM TO US.

EXCELLENT LOCATION, SAVING ON HOTEL 'EXTRAS'. COMFORTABLE (BUT GLOOMY, AND SOMETIMES NOISY) ACCOMMODATION.
WORTH A RETURN TRIP.

Very convenient location, comfortable, well organised and helpful staff. The arrangement of two bedrooms with the bathroom in one room and the kitchen/diner in the other was OK for us, but may not suit all parties of 2x2 people.

The location was perfect. The Hotel was clean and met our needs. Covenient to resturants and the available continental breakfast was good. I would recommend to a friend.

There was some building work taking place on the ground floor, so some dust / dirt.
Noise from square understandable / expected, though windows not quite as sound-proof as described.
Otherwise all good.

Upper floor, overlooking piazza and views beyond, with atmosphere of the city day & night life. Immediate access to centre of city and all conveniences, including easy and fast access to/from rail station.
Clean and well decorated apartment.

in the description of our booking, it stated 'one apartment with two bedrooms' so we naturally presumed the apartment had two seperate rooms. However, the apartment was with one bedroom with one fold out bed and single sofabed set up in the lounge with kitchen in it which we don't consider as a bedroom. This needs to explained correctly!!!
